September 9, 2026 — We are pleased to announce that Kate Satin, Esq. has been elected as President to our Board of Trustees as we celebrate our 50th anniversary and prepare to open Explore Staten Island, a major new exhibit, this fall.
Satin, Employee Relations Manager at Adobe and the parent of two young Museum visitors, has served on our Board since 2023, most recently as Secretary. She succeeds Bonnie Lauder, who will remain in Board leadership as a Vice President after four years as President.
Our officers for 2026–2027 are:

“I am honored to serve as President of the Board of Trustees at such an exciting time for the Staten Island Children’s Museum,” said Satin. “The Museum plays an important role in providing children and families with opportunities to explore, imagine, and learn together. I look forward to working with my fellow trustees, the Museum’s staff, and our community to build on that important work.”
Satin has provided leadership as Co-Chair of the inaugural Staten Island Social family fundraiser and brings extensive experience in human resources, employee relations and compliance. As a parent whose family regularly visits the Museum, she also brings the perspective of the families we serve.
Lauder will continue in leadership as Vice President. During her four years as President, she helped guide several significant Museum initiatives, including a major HVAC modernization and the campaign to create Explore Staten Island.
She will serve alongside David Oldham, our longest-serving trustee. An architect and a member of the Board for 48 years, Oldham has provided professional expertise and guidance on our capital projects since we moved to Snug Harbor. His four decades of service span much of the Museum’s history and have provided important continuity as our facilities and programs have grown and changed.
Jason Friedhoff, a partner at Sidley Austin LLP, will serve as Treasurer. Friedhoff has provided valuable legal and other insights to the Museum and has also served on the Planning Committee for the Staten Island Social.
Marion Foley, RN, Associate Executive Director of Operations at Staten Island University Hospital, part of Northwell Health, will serve as Secretary. Foley has helped strengthen the relationship between the Museum and Northwell Health and has also served on the Staten Island Social Planning Committee.
We also recognize longtime trustee Alfredo (Al) Conti, Esq. a Staten Island attorney in private practice, who is stepping down from the Board. During his years of service, Conti co-chaired the Museum’s former Business Luncheon fundraiser for many years and provided valuable pro bono legal services to support our organization.
The Museum also extends its gratitude to outgoing Treasurer Laurie Guinta of Northfield Bank for her leadership and service as an officer and Trustee, Christina Tannenbaum of Blackrock.

We are also deeply grateful to Al for the years of leadership, fundraising and legal support he has given the Museum.”
The new Board leadership takes office during a milestone year for the Children’s Museum. In addition to celebrating 50 years of serving Staten Island families, we are preparing to open Explore Staten Island, a new exhibit inspired by the borough’s landmarks, landscapes and wildlife in October. Explore Staten Island will invite children to discover their home borough through active, hands-on experiences incorporating climbing, building, sorting and imaginative play.
As we enter our next 50 years, the Staten Island Children’s Museum remains committed to nurturing the creativity and curiosity natural to all children, recognizing and celebrating different learning styles, and demonstrating that learning can be exciting and fun.

The museum is housed in a building owned by the City of New York and their operation is made possible, in part, with public funds provided through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs with support from the Staten Island delegation to the NYC Council.
