January 21, 2026 — During the month of February, we will host a lineup of guest artists who will bring music, dance, yoga and literacy to life. From interactive storytelling sessions with man’s best friend to vibrant musical performances, visitors will experience a world of culture in the heart of Staten Island. There will be special events throughout NYC Public Schools Mid-Winter Break from Saturday, February 14 through Sunday, February 22. We will also hold a special Free PreK for All Admission Day in partnership with the Staten Island Alliance where visitors can gather information on PreK enrollment.
Everyday there is something to create in the Walk-In! Workshop. Throughout the month kids can create their own Pop Art Posters inspired by Romero Britto, using neon markers to create bold shapes in bright colors in our Walk-In! Workshop. Wed-Fri 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Therapy dogs from Luv on a Leash will listen patiently as kids read to them. Sunday, February 1, starting at 1:00 pm, 1:20 pm, 1:50 pm, 2:10 pm. Limited spots are available in each session. Interested visitors are asked to pick up an event pass at the front desk. First come, first served.
Free PreK for All Admission Day We are partnering with the Staten Island Alliance to offer free museum admission with pre-registration on Saturday, February 7 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, as well as an early childhood development informational fair with representatives from city agencies and non-profit organizations who will provide resources for families and assist with 3K and PreK enrollment. Mid-Winter Fun Camp: Monday, February 16 – Friday, February 20
For children ages 5-9, the Mid-Winter Fun Camp offers a week of hands-on activities blending creativity and curiosity, including STEAM projects. Highlights include science experiments, artmaking, outdoor adventures, interactive exhibit play, and cultural performances by guest artists. During NYC Public Schools Mid-Winter Break, Saturday, February 14 through Sunday, February 22, we will be open daily with Guest Artists almost every day.
Visitors will explore Isaac Newton’s three laws of motion with Mad Science’s engaging physics performance on Saturday, February 14 from 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm. Young scientists will conduct experiments, compete in competitions, and learn the physics behind some of their favorite sports.
Families are invited to Discover the Rhythm of the World: S’Cool Sounds Percussion Workshop, Monday, February 16 from 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm. This workshop will focus on a variety of percussion instruments and their geographic origin. Attendees will learn to play different rhythms and interact using key musical elements. This workshop will engage learners at a variety of levels and musical ability while providing a unique, educational, fun experience. Age Range: 3-9.
BubbleMania: Science, Art & Comedy! with Casey Carle, Tuesday, February 17 with two shows, 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm (ages 2-4) and 4:15 pm – 4:45 pm (ages 5+). Science and humor combine in these performances by comic bubble-ologist Casey Carle. This high-energy stage show combines engaging, surprising & fun science from a fog-filled bubble sculpture and gobs of funky foam to cube-shaped bubbles to bubbles that trap a human inside.
Wednesday, February 18 starting at 4:00 pm, in honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month, you can join dentist, Marcia Greene, DMD for The Art of a Healthy Smile an art workshop and presentation inspired by dental hygiene.
On Thursday, February 19 from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm, Zumba Kids classes will bring high-energy fun with kid-friendly routines inspired by original Zumba choreography. An instructor will break down the steps, add games, and create an engaging, active experience.
Feel the Sounds of the Islands with Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band, Friday, February 20 from 4:00pm to 4:45pm.
Featuring colorful steel pans and infectious rhythms, these performers invite children to experience how music can tell stories, express tradition, and bring communities together. Kids will learn how steel drums are made, hear different musical styles from across the Caribbean, and discover how rhythm and teamwork create exciting performances. Age range: 3-9.
ShopRite Kidz Cook invites caregivers and children to cook together on Saturday, February 21. Participants will prepare Shakshuka, eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, and explore different foods along the way. Sessions are held at 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. Space is limited and tickets are available at the door. Age range: 4 and up.
An installment of our monthly Movers and Shakers series will be held on Sunday, February 22. It consists of four 45-minute movement workshops, each designed for a specific age group. Space is limited and free tickets for each session will be distributed first come, first served.
11:00 am to 11:45 am – Infant Parent and Me: Parents and Pips is recommended for infants under 1. It consists of gentle yoga-based movement to support digestion, body awareness, and spatial awareness.
12:00 pm to 12:45 pm – Toddlers: Walkers’ Wiggle is recommended for ages 1 to 3. It consists of yoga and dance moves to help develop gross motor skills and strengthen recognition of shapes, counting, and self-expression.
1:00 pm to 1:45 pm – Pre K and Kindergarten: Yoga Adventure is recommended for ages 4+. It is best for children who can follow directions. They will focus on breathing and body awareness.
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Grades 1 and up: Music Video Mania is recommended for ages 6+, participants will learn choreography from current dance trends, then try it on stage with a fun video production focus.
About the Staten Island Children’s Museum
The Staten Island Children’s Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. In February, the Museum will have limited hours on Saturday, February 7, open only 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. During NYC Public Schools Mid-Winter Break, the museum will have additional days open on Monday, February 16 and Tuesday, February 17. All programs are included with admission unless stated.
