Website Accessibility
We are committed to making our website accessible by all people, whatever their abilities. We have installed special software entitled UserWay to improve this website’s accessibility. Click here to view UserWay’s accessibility statement.
To activate its features, please click on this blue button which appears on the right-hand side of the screen. While this site has been created to be usable “as is,” many people are likely to get the most accessible experience by customizing their computer to suit their individual needs, for example, to get the site spoken to them, to change its color scheme, or increase the size of its fonts.
LIMITATIONS OF THIS SITE’S ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility and usability issues may arise or be discovered by users. We welcome and will carefully consider all constructive feedback. If you find anything on the site difficult to use, please let us know by emailing Jennifer Dudley at jdudley@sichildrensmuseum.org.
Service Animals
Assistance animals (e.g., guide dogs, hearing dogs, and seizure dogs) are welcome in the Children’s Museum as long as they wear a collar or harness and the owner has identification papers. Service animals must be on a leash at all times. Staten Island Children’s Museum reserves the right to request identification for service animals.
Personal Care Assistants for the Disabled
Admission is free for the personal care assistant of a visitor with a disability.
Accessibility Guide for Kids and Families
Please review our accessibility guide to visiting the Children’s Museum: I am going to the Staten Island Children’s Museum! Created specifically for children with sensory issues, this annotated guide is a fun way for the entire family to familiarize themselves with the Museum’s exhibits, sounds, and quiet areas. It can also be downloaded as a pdf.
First Aid
Please inform any staff member if First Aid is required. In case of emergency, call 718-273-2060 and dial 0 to talk to the Admissions desk if help is needed.
